The Role
- Prepare fabrics and components for use in upholstery and/or soft furnishings.
- Prepare to upholster items of furniture involving preparation of the frame for upholstery, application of suspensions and filling materials.
- Fix upholstery to standard items of modern furniture and traditional furniture using a hand held staple gun, screw gun and other hand tools.
- Application of mesh material into plastic back using air hammer and hands.
- Fix upholstery to standard items of modern furniture and traditional furniture using a hand held staple gun, screw gun and other hand tools.
- Maintaining a high level of quality and meeting production efficiency.
- Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and machinery.
The Person
- Experienced Upholsterer.
- Ability to produce a high quality furniture products with excellent attention to detail.
- Practical skills, manual dexterity, especially hand skills and co-ordination.
- A positive mind-set with a ‘can do’ attitude.
- Aptitude to assimilate techniques.
- Manual handling, as some lifting is required.
- Ability to use own initiative and to work quickly to meet production deadlines.
- Measuring and cutting skills would also be beneficial.
